From the Bestselling Author of TRIAL JUNKIES
THE SOULS OF THE DEAD
Naked. Incoherent. Covered with blood. That’s how Detective Frank Blackburn finds her—a beautiful Jane Doe brandishing a pair of scissors near the scene of a brutal murder. Is she the perpetrator? Or is she the only eyewitness to the handiwork of Vincent Van Gogh, a twisted serial killer with an “artistic” bent?
THE SINS OF THE LIVING
To find out, Blackburn takes her to renowned psychiatrist Dr. Michael Tolan. But Tolan has problems of his own. One year ago today, his beloved wife Abby was savagely slaughtered by the very same serial killer. And when Jane Doe starts saying things that only Abby could know… about long-buried secrets…about the night of Abby’s death…Tolan finds himself headed for a confrontation with his past that could well lead to a breakdown.
It’s up to Frank Blackburn to find the connection between Jane, Tolan…and Vincent—before the killer strikes again.

I'm a very impatient reader who is sometimes hard to please. This novel impressed me with its tight pacing as the story developed. I rarely had to go back to make sure I knew who each character was, even though there were several in the story. Too many authors get this wrong and as a result, lose readers.Other elements that impressed me: the dialogue was smart, succinct and character-appropriate. Inner dialogue was also right-on and insightful. The author kept the tension level high and did not use any cheap plot tricks in the process. Thank you for treating the reader fairly...
What kept it from getting a full five stars? Similar complaints to what others have mentioned. Yes, the language in the first chapter is rough, the investigating officer is a misogynist, and the bad guy is a bit of a stereotype as well. But there is plenty to like once you get past those minor annoyances. Writing a novel like this is no easy feat. I applaud the author's effort. It came together nicely at the end.
I would read another of his books.

Whisper in the Dark A Fourth Dimension Thriller Book 2 edition by Robert Gregory Browne Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
It's always nice to find a great author. I love his books and will continue to read when he publishes a new one. He has never let me down and I have a hard time putting it down. I have not been disappointed. A new favorite author!
I am always up for a twisty psychological suspense/mystery and Browne thoroughly supplied the needed fix. I don't do spoilers, blurbs, or storyline critiques,
You want an engaging story with side issues and a satisfying conclusion -go no further. It is here.
Even though I would not normally read sci-fi, the storyline drew me in right away. Easy to read, well written and twisty, I was pleasantly surprised. Characters could be a bit more defined; they need to be recognized and remembered, I believe. Will read this author again.
I was truly impressed with Browne's debut, "Kiss Her Goodbye," where his characters and complex plot draw the reader in and keep you hostage until the very end where you want more. However, his artistry and talent as a supernatural thriller writer surpassed expectations with "Whisper in the Dark." His omniscient narrative voice is visual and takes you into the minds of his main characters a hilariously cynical Frank Blackburn (I would like to see this guy again) and the haunted Michael Tolan. The dialgue is crisp and moves the plot of the story as a true page-turner should. I can't wait to read his future works.
Too many coincidences keep Whisper in the Dark from being a five star book. Still, the character development is excellent and the characters' actions always made sense. Browne actually convinced me that I was wrong about the identity of the killer and surprised me at the end. I would like to see Detective Blackburn in a future novel; he anchored the novel and made the coincidences almost realistic.
Fast, compelling and graphic read. Learn about "The Rythym", and balancing of justice. Believable characters, entertaining dialogue and story line.
I would have given this four stars if there had been more work about "The Rythym" and less graphic descriptions of what the victims of the serial killers suffered.
I will not re-read this story but am interested in other works in this series.
I thought I was purchasing a mystery/thriller with nothing to do with politics. To get across an opinion of a character, the reference used mentioned a right leaning political group and Fox News. Now if it was offset by a left leaning political group and MSNBC it would be a wash. Unfortunately, if this is the best reference available, then that's just sad. I stopped reading.
